Moving Again

I've been on a slight hiatis from blogging. Lots going on up here in Madison, Al. We are in the middle of another move. The house we were renting from my dad sold. So we have found another house and can't move in until next week. In the mean time we are living with my mom. Everything is in storage, etc, etc, etc. I have so many pictures to post but that won't be for a few weeks. When I get my house up and running! Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Big Girl!

A few weeks ago (right before her 2nd birthday) Addison slept in a big girl bed! She was so excited to be able to get in the bed herself. The transition has been great! Ican't believe how big she is. Potty training is soon on the horizon. Not sure how I feel about that transition! :) I guess we will cross that bridge when we get there. Look at that sweet baby!!!

The Little Gym

So finally......after waiting 2 years Addison called me mama! She has been calling Michael "da" for a long time but would never call me "ma" or "mama" or anything close to it. She was capable of saying it but never would. Sunday, the day before her 2nd birthday I heard her looking for me but this time she was calling me "mama". I think I shed a few tears. 2 years is a long time to wait!

..............I just can't hide it. So I must share with all of you out there that my sister and my neice and nephew are flying in today for a 3MONTH visit!!!! They are stationed in Sasebo, Japan and I haven't seen them for a whole year other than Skype of course. Matt my brother-in-law whose in the navy just left for the boat on a 3 month cruise so Jess and the kids packed up and are coming for their first visit since being in Japan. She will be in the same town with me just a mile down the road at my mom's house. I'm so excited for Addison to get to play with her cousins and her Aunt. Anyways, please say a prayer for my sister for grace and patience. She is flying across the world with 2 kids! :)

Mother's Day Out

My baby started a Mother's Day Out program today! She goes 1 day a week from 8:30 - 12:30. She cried and screamed as we dropped her off which didn't surprise me one bit. She never has been one to go to strangers or anyone for that matter that well. Still it broke my heart to see her cry. I had intended on taking a picture of her with her precious little backpack (thanks Aunt Jessica) but we may wait for pictures when she's actually smiling. :) So I'm sitting in my kitchen in a quiet house, couponing. The quiet is a little strange.

This was my first Thanksgiving to host all festivities and cook the glorious 2o lb bird. It was a wonderful time with family and new friends in Huntsville. The past few weeks I've noticed that Addison has been going back to her room to play alone! This is a very new development since we have always lived in a two story house and she's never really had a separate place to go and play. I'm encouraged how she plays well by herself and it gives me a few breaks in the day of entertaining her! Huntsville Update

Life has been a bit hectic since my last entry. We went down to Seaside to celebrate my MIL's birthday, moved out of my mom's house and into our new house, suffered through a double ear infection on Addison's part and a lingering cold/sinus infection on my part. Each one of these things were definitely blog post worthy but to be honest I didn't have the energy. We are just now starting to feel settled in the new house eventhough, I still have numerous boxes to unpack. :) We are so thankful to have our own space again. Here are some fun pics of Addison because well she's just so cute when she's not throwing tantrums. More on that later.....

I was so thrilled to have my 1st out of town visitor last week! My dear friend Kari who lives in Nashville brought her youngest to come and play for the day. It was so wonderful to have someone in the flesh to talk to. I know that sounds kind of tragic but I seriously don't know anyone here. I am working on changing that but that's another post. I will be planning a day trip up to Nashville as soon as we get all moved into our new place. It's great that we live close enough now where I can make day trips up there to visit. Portland, OR

My cousin Mandy who is only 4 days older than me was married on August 8th (my 30th birthday) in Portland. I definitely won't ever forget her anniversary. Michael and I were lucky enough to be able to fly out to Portland and attend. I was glad that Michael was able to meet some of my cousins and extended family. It was a very short trip but well worth it.

Favorite Things at 18 months old!

On my 30th birthday Addison was 18 months old, Crazy! So I thought I would share some of her favorite things:

Favorite Foods: fruit of any kind, hummus (she eats it in spoonfuls) ; steamed broccoli, any kind of cheese, scrambled eggs and turkey sausage.

Favorite Things & Hobbies: her paci; screaming at my mom's cat (poor tater) ; playing in the sandbox; pretending to drive the car (while the car is parked); trying on any shoes; coloring on anything (not my favorite); talking in her own language that I cannot understand; and the last and most favorite driving mommy and daddy crazy while looking too cute for her own good.

She is definitely coming into her own personality!

We have a place to live!

Well...after much thought and deliberation we have found a place to live. We will be moving into my dad's house. My dad and gale moved back to Texas and still have not sold their house here in Huntsville. It's much bigger and a little further out than what we're used to but it's approximately 1mile from my mom's house and we can rent! We knew we didn't want to buy because we want all of our options to be open. Overall, this is the best thing for us right now. We are so excited to have made a decision! We will be moving in the very end of Sept/beginning of October. Here it is:

Summer Weddings

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Santa Monica/Malibu, California. Michael's cousin got married and it was beautiful. We were so thankful that we were able to go. It was a great time with family eventhough, we left Addison at home with her Mimi. Next month we will be heading to Portland, OR for my cousin Mandy's wedding. Addison will be spending that weekend with her other Mimi. Two trips to the west coast for weddings in one summer is a little crazy but we are trying to take advantage of these trips for some adult time. Here are few pics of the California wedding. A few weeks ago when we were moving out of our old house in Birmingham I found Addison in the kitchen with the "infamous" dust buster. Addison has had a love/hate relationship with the dust buster. I use this thing numerous times a day and love it.

She was pushing it around the kitchen making a vroom vroom sound. She was loving it that day. It was so cute!

So much has been going since my last post. The most blog worthy would be that we are moving to Huntsville .... next week! The Lord has provided us with a buyer for our home (we close on Tuesday) and we are incredible thankful for His provision. The reason for the move is ..... Michael's job/territory changed at the beginning of this year. For those of you who don't know what Michael does, he's in medical device sales and has a large territory of northwest Alalabama. He used to have Birmingham but the territories changed in January due to the economy. He now has all of north Alabama but no longer Birmingham which posed an interesting predicament for us. His company hasn't required us to move but it would definitely be better for Michael if we lived in his territory. It would cut down on his driving considerably and we would see him a lot more, which is what we want! :) So we decided it would best to live in Huntsville right smack dab in the middle of the territory. So, we are going to stay with my mom (she's lived in Huntsville for a few years) for awhile until we find a house and get to know the area better. I am incredibly sad to leave Birmingham but know it's the best for our family.

Michael Buble'

I have to give a slight disclaimer before I begin this post. I discovered this "quirk" of Michael's AFTER we were married. :)

So here goes. Michael is the king of calling into radio stations to win all kinds of things. I'm not kidding. I promise every few months he's coming home telling me something else he has won. It's truly amazing all the things he has won. (Before I go on, I must come to his defense and say he is in his car most of the day for work so he listens to the radio a lot. He's not sitting in an office listening to the radio waiting to call in. Lets just say his job helps to facilitate this personality trait!)

So the most recent one in this long list of prizes was front row Michael Buble' tickets. Michael and I both figured he would be good in concert but had the idea of maybe selling them to make a few bucks. I mean can't we all use a few extra extra dollars these days. Michael got online and looked up front row ticket prices and wow are they expensive! Atleast, to me they're expensive. He must be real good in concert! Well Michael and I decided to put them on ebay and if we sold them great and if not we would find a babysitter and go to the concert. Well hallelujah! we sold them for $250. I never thought we would actually sell them but I'm so thankful we did. Michael's quirk is definitely paying off!

Auburn & Onion Rings

This past weekend Michael and I left Addison in the wonderful hands of her Mimi and went down to Auburn to see the game and stay overnight. This is the first time I've been away from her overnight. Don't worry I did fine for those mom's who are wondering. I didn't do any crying or anything of the sort. I enjoyed every moment of it!!! I love that baby but we all need a break sometimes.

So anyways we drove down to Auburn Saturday morning. When we arrived we found a great parking spot and began our wonderful day. The shopping was great but finding a place for lunch proved to be our downfall. We walked around for atleat 1.5 hours looking for something we both wanted to eat. We ended up at Cheeburger Cheeburger waiting 45 minutes to eat! So by the time we sat down to eat we were starving. Nevertheless, that 45 minutes were well worth it because when I bit into those onion rings........Oh my goodness, they were divine. Has anyone ever had them there? Am I making too big a deal about these onion rings? (For those of you who may not know, I LOVE onion rings! They are my weakness.) Ok ok I will stop now. I do have to restrain myself on many occasions but today was not one of them. I had just walked 5 miles looking for a place to eat so I thought it was ok to indulge and indulge I did. So after hamburgers, onion rings, and a peanut butter milkshake (I didn't drink it all by myself-I promise) we were off to the game. We had a great time besides the fact that Auburn lost.

Crazy Life

It's been awhile since I've posted or been on the computer. Life in the Cobb house has been a little crazy. Here are just a few things that have been going on.

We've been out of town a few times. Addison is in the midst of dropping her third nap to just 2 a day. Addison had a stomach bug while we were at my mom's for the weekend. Therefore, I had a stomach bug on Monday (I should probably mention Michael was out of town on a business trip). I will take a quick moment to thank my mother-in-law for dropping everything and driving up to take care of Addison and me while Michael was gone. There is no way I could have taken care of Addison by myself being so sick. I love you, thank you! And now this very day Michael is sick. Yep, it got him early this morning. So I have now quarantined (sp?) him to our bedroom and I have been disinfecting our entire house.

Anyways, in the midst of all the craziness I have gotten so many cute pictures of Addison that I can't wait to post.

I can't believe the things parents resort to get a smile or what I will do! During Addison's 6 month picture session I did things I thought I would never do in public for a smile. Usually it doesn't take much to get Addison to smile but she wasn't quite herself that day. She had her shots 2 days before which led to a fever. She was tuckered out from getting over the fever but the picture appointment had been set and we went. She yawned more in that hour than I had ever seen her yawn. So Michael and I resorted to every noise and face we could muster. If only we could have video taped us.....hilarious. I was doing jumping jacks (I got a few smiles) and definitely working up a sweat! We did get some great pictures and she was definitely a trooper. Here are just a few of them.

So this was a phase that lasted about 3 days. She made these faces from the minute she woke up until she went to bed that night. It was so crazy. I was beginning to worry about her. Thankfully, the "old man face" was a short phase.

6 Month Checkup

So Addison was 6 months old last Friday which was also my 29th birthday (I'll save that for another post). We went to the doctor for her checkup and wasn't shocked by her stats (she's got some thighs). She weighs 19lbs!! - 95th percentile & not too sure on her length right now but it was in the 75th percentile. It seems that she carries all of her weight in her thighs! Everyone notices.... the nurse giving her shots, the photographer today, every family member....... They are quite chunky but soooo adorable. So at 6 months old Addison is doing the army crawl, sitting up, and eating veggies! I can't believe it's been 6 months already.

I love the mornings when Michael will get up with Addison so I can sleep in. So the other day he told me to keep sleeping and that he would go get Addie and do the morning routine. So when I came downstairs Michael showed me some pictures of how breakfast went. I laughed so hard. This is what he showed me.

I was folding laundry and Addison laughed so hard when I fluffed/snapped the towel over her head. I've never heard her laugh so hard before! It's amazing that the simplest things can make babies laugh. I'm so glad Michael got the video camera and got this on film. Hope you all enjoy it!!!

The Beach

Our beach vacation was nooo vacation. I do believe that I was delusional to think that our vacation would be like it was the past few years. I mean I knew it would be different with a 5 month old but I didn't realize how different. After the first few days and a major attitude readjustment on my expectations of the vacation we had a great time but those first few days, oh my! I can't say I got much rest but we did make some great memories and learned many lessons. Next year we should be much better prepared, hopefully. :)

I think Addison had a great time beside the rash she had all over her - from what you ask, we have no idea. It started last Tuesday and is now finally starting to go away. It never seemed to bother her which was a huge blessing.

I haven't yet figured out how to make a slideshow so here are some pics.

6:15am!!!

Addison has been sleeping until 6:15am for almost a week now. We put her down at 7:30 pm and she sleeps all night long. That's almost 11 hours!!! She would wake up religiously at 5:00 am for weeks. I know that's still a good long time for a baby but I don't do so well at 5am. I wasn't about to start that habit so I decided not to let her out of the bed until 6:30am. That made for alot of up and down for me & Michael putting the paci back in over and over and trying to help her go back to sleep. Finally, it has paid off we have made it past the 6:00am mark! It is so exciting. I can't say much for her naps during the day. We are still working on those!

Some of her favorite pastimes these days are: sucking & slobbering on her hands all day long (seriously all day long), playing with her favorite blue elephant (this was the first thing she reached for and of course put it in her mouth), rolling onto her tummy right after a bottle and therefore spitting up (not so much my favorite but atleast she's rolling over), and last but not least smiling ALL the time.

Our home away from home for the week!

We are going on our annual beach vacation to Seaside, Fl. I've been looking forward to this trip since Addison was born. Usually we go on Memorial Day weekend but we thought this year we would try the 4th of July instead. Also, Addison would be just a little be older and would hopefully enjoy it more atleast that was our thinking.

I can't stop thinking about the beach, Modeca's Market, the movies & bands in the ampitheater, and last but not least the Red Bar (they have the BEST crab cakes on Friday nights & for those who have never been there it is very family friendly - I'm not toting Addie around to bars!!!). I could go on forever about how much I look forward to this vacation.

Rice Cereal

So the pediatrician told us at her 4 month appointment that we could start introducing rice cereal. I thought it may be a bit early but I thought why not give it a try. It would give her practice eating. Here are a few pics of how it went. I must say that I don't think she actually got any of it down but it sure was fun watching her try something new.

4 Month Checkup

Yesterday Addison went to her 4 month checkup. We knew that she had gone through some growth spurts but had no idea how large they were. She is now in the 95th percentile for weight (15lb 9oz) and the 90th percentile for height. I mean who would have ever thought our child would be tall for her age. I'm sure it won't last long but I love it now!!!

Addison just started rolling over from her back to her belly. She gets real excited until she wants to roll back. She hasn't mastered that skill yet but I'm sure it will come soon enough. Here's a pic of her after she just rolled over.......

Sweet Cousins!

A few weekends ago we had a family weekend in Huntsville. My mom and dad both live there and my sister and her family drove all the way from Florida. It was wonderful to have all the families together. It's not very often that this happens. Unfortunately, I didn't take a ton of pics but this one is so adorable of my niece Brenna holding Addison. All weekend Brenna kept saying, "Awww, she's so cute" about Addison. She also told Addison that they would be best friends. She's only 2 1/2 years old. It was too funny.

Addison was 3 months old on Friday. She is getting so big & heavy... well atleast to me she is. She's holding her head up so well and smiles all the time. She even tries to carry on conversations with me. It's really so cute.

9 Weeks

Addison just went to her 2 month checkup and she is up to 10 lbs and is almost 22 inches (21 & 3/4 to be exact). Other than a little case of baby acne she is doing great. She tolerated her shots just fine. Of course, I shed a few tears but hubby was there to be strong for both his girls. That night she slept for 10 hours straight(I think she was tuckered out)!! Amazing! It gave me a glimpse into what I can look forward to-a full night sleep. I wasn't naive to think we had made a breakthrough just yet. Of course, I am writing this post at 3:45 am! Anywho, I am very thankful for that one glorious night of uninterupted sleep.

Happy (Late) Easter

Sunday was a wonderful day and a day of firsts for Addison. First of all, we made it to church and Sunday school since she was born. This was quite an accomplishment! She did great, only a few noises here and there but, overall was very content in her carseat. We then took a drive to Montgomery for Easter lunch and an Easter egg hunt with all the cousins. She couldn't quite participate but loved being held by everyone.

Smiles and New Faces

I had been awaiting a smile (don't worry the pic above is not her smile just a fun new facial expression) and I finally got one!! I usually get a few each morning but that's it. They are so precious. It definitely helps after a loooong night with her. I haven't been able to get them on camera yet but I'm trying! I love all of her new facial expressions and that her eyes are open taking in the world. Enjoy the pic.

One Month!!

I can't believe it's been 4 weeks since we brought Addison home. Sometimes it feels like yesterday and more often than not it seems like an eternity! Our little "diva" definitely has attitude and keeps us on our toes. I pray for her to smile(not one linked to gas) soon which will hopefully help me to get through these challenging times with her. Smile or not we love her dearly and cherish her.

Today was Addison's first "Well-Baby" checkup. She did great and only cried when they pricked her heel. I can't believe how much weight she has gained. She is now in the 25th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height. This is quite an improvement from when she was born. For those of you who want to know here are her stats:

Birth Weight: 5.7
3 Weeks: 7.2!!!

Birth Length: 19in
3 Weeks: 20in!!!

Today is the first day that I'm home alone with Addison. Michael is at work and all the mom's are gone. I sure do miss all the extra hands I've had the past few weeks. Thank you to both the "Mimi's" for everything you have done to help make this transition a little easier. We love you both!

Addison Grace has Arrived!

Addison Grace was born on Friday February 8th, 2008. She weighed in at a tiny 5lbs 7oz and 19inches long. We just got home from the hospital yesterday and are working on very little sleep. Without further adieu......here she is......

After our "routine" doctor's visit this morning it has been decided that baby Addison needs to be brought into this world a little earlier than expected. So tonight we will head to the hospital and will be induced first thing in the morning. Say a prayer for our sweet girl!
